Hello out there! One of my resolutions for 2018 is to find opportunities for growth by pushing myself beyond my comfort zone, and starting a blog definitely fits the bill!

So, I guess I should tell you a bit about myself, especially since I haven’t even figured out how to publish an About Me page yet. I am (in some particular order): wife to S, mom to three-year-old W, dog mom to the ever adventurous and trouble seeking Indy (our last name is Jones…), lover of coffee, chocolate, and red wine, wannabe hobbyist photographer and yogi, and 5th grade teacher turned work-while-I-stay-at-home-mom.

I taught 5th grade for six years and then spent one year in a Title 1 position running math intervention groups and helping start up a STEAM lab at my school. Science and math were always my favorite subjects as a student and as a teacher, but I began looking at all content areas through a new lens when my school dug into STEM and arts integration. I now have a passion for helping students make connections across content areas by integrating 21st century skills and an inquiry based approach to teaching and learning with our state and national standards.

I found the online teacher community only after I had left the classroom to stay home with my son. How I wish I had know about all of the fantastic teaching resources, classroom ideas, and internet friends on instagram, pinterest, and teachers pay teachers while I was still teaching! While I am looking forward to eventually returning to the classroom, I am enjoying making connections and continuing my professional growth online. I hope you’ll stick around with me!

If you happen to be reading this post, I’d love for you to say hi by leaving a comment. (Though I’ll understand if you don’t, since I’m always a lurker on other people’s blogs!) Tell me if you and I have something in common!

More for You!
